I once had a reader email me that there was something just not right about her recent pixie cut but she couldn't figure out what it was. After looking at photos she sent me, I realized her hairline had been shaved into a perfectly straight line. I don't know anybody that has a hairline that naturally forms a perfectly straight line, in fact it would be weird if our hairlines didn't have natural indentations. A lot of men have their hairlines shaved into perfectly straight lines, so anytime a woman has a similar hairline, it automatically takes away some femininity.
Mia Farrow is one of the iconic examples of a pixie haircut. Vidal Sassoon famously cut hers on the set of Rosemary's Baby. Above is a photo of the back of her hair shot by Richard Avedon and as you can tell, her hairline naturally grows in a couple of different directions but it was cut so it flows with her natural growth patterns and so it blends into her hairline. The main reason why this is important is because not only does her pixie look feminine but it will grow out so much better than if her natural hairline wasn't taken into consideration.
